Certificate – Anaphylaxis in Schools: What Educators Need to Know

Anaphylaxis in schools happens quite often when students are exposed to allergens. Often these allergies are known and the staff are prepared but sometimes they are new to a student. Most elementary schools in British Columbia have anaphylaxis injectors available but there is training involved when administering them. This certificate ensures that I have participated in training to recognize when an anaphylaxis is occurring but also what to do during and after it. In any case, paramedics are always called to get the final clearance for the patient, but medication needs to be administered immediately to reduce the chance of severe outcomes and even death. I am confident with my background that I can be an asset for the school in these events which adds to my professional certifications.
