This was a huge undertaking for my EDLL 3200 class. I spent my entire reading break painting the images for it in watercolour paints for the illustrations. The book turned out amazing from the TRU Print Shop and I am truly proud of it! As much as I love the hardcore subjects like mathematics and science, I also love art. I’ve been known to pull out my paints from time to time. The book is written in couplets throughout and there are illustrations to go along with the story on every page. When I first was designing this book, I wanted to do a non-fiction story utilizing my extensive background in forestry and botany. In the end, once I started writing, I realized that I wanted it to be fun for kids to read and look at so I gave the pine tree a personality. This was one of my favorite assignments that we have done so far in the education program! I think that writing this has given me an insight into how to engage children better and how to cater something to them that they would enjoy. So fun!
