In this course for my CEA certification, we learned about some practical aspects of what educators will see during their time in classrooms. We looked at how to support students with many different types of disabilities. The course offered quite an extensive look at Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices for students that are non-verbal. Other areas of study consisted of: Basic American sign language, visual & audio supports, and assistive technology so that students can access the curriculum. Some common childhood conditions were also included. This course has offered me a glance into things that we could see in our classrooms that I would not otherwise know about.
