Board President

When I was growing up in the 80’s, I swam under the same organization of the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) but rather than the Kamloops Tsunami, I swam for the Salmon Arm Sockeyes. My sons have swam for the Kamloops Tsunami team for the past 10+ years and they have become amazing competitive swimmers throughout their time with the club. My legacy swam on! I was the elected board Vice President for two years and I have been the elected board President of the team since 2019. I have just last fall decided to step down for this upcoming 2025 season because my sons have decided to retire. During my time with the club, I was responsible for a huge amount of things. It was exhausting but an amazing experience getting to know the swimmers and their families. I will seriously miss the swim community. In my last season, I was able to also step up and do some officiating on deck checking swimmers for the correct stroke and turn application during competitions for the Okanagan Region. My days were spent running around on a pool deck making sure that the coaches had everything they needed, and the swimmers were happy and engaged with their coaches. There was a lot of work behind the scenes that I was directly responsible for as well including City of Kamloops relations, city pool bookings, BCSSA relations within the region and province, organizing the Regional Championship Swim Meet in Kamloops, fundraising, finances, swimmer registration, and parent interactions. All of this was volunteer work.
