Leader for 1st Valleyview Scouts Group

I was a Scouter with the 1st Valleyview Scouts for three years while my sons were involved in the program. We did a lot of fun and adventurous things including camping in all conditions and accommodations, we went skating with the Blazers (one of our Scouters was the uncle of one of the Blazers members), we always participated in the Santa Parade & the Remembrance Day ceremony every November in Kamloops, we built cool stuff, we educated ourselves in bats, geocaching, map reading, sports, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and way more! I was trained as a Scouter and in order to become one, I went through a very thorough training package plus an interview in person with the Area Commissioner. I had to pass a Criminal Record Check screening including working with vulnerable youth. I was also responsible for all the behind the scenes stuff like updating badge requirements, getting activities organized, and attendance through the website. All of this is volunteer. My experience has exposed to me a lot of diverse disabilities in children and several that are even rare occurrences.
