When I first saw this assignment last semester, I thought “Huh? What does this have to do with math?” After completing it though, I realized that it did make me take a look at how I see math and how we have all had our struggles with it. I’m pretty decent at mathematics but I have had some major struggles with it and those cases were all surrounded by the teachers that I had at the time. I am very aware that the teacher is the factor when I take a math course as to how I will perform in it. The best math teachers that I have had were patient, supportive, and believed that I could do it even when I doubted myself. The teachers that I’ve had that were not those things, took a toll on me and I either failed those math classes or got very poor marks. I can’t say enough about how important it is to have a teacher in mathematics that helps their students to understand the material and that supports their learning style to the best of their ability.
