The B.C. Curriculum is certainly an advanced educational tool that our province has worked very hard to enforce and utilize. I believe that we are one of most advanced educational programs in the world and we are at the forefront of blazing a new trail to what education should look like for youth. When it was first proposed, my sons were in elementary school in Dallas and as a parent, I thought it was ridiculous I must say. Dallas Elementary was a pilot school for the new system and the parents were super confused. I remember telling my husband that we needed PhD’s in astrophysics to figure this grading system out and why did they have to change it? Now I realize that that was my colonial, hard built in response to a system that was so engrained into me from the age of five. I now understand why it has been implemented and why it is working for students. This is an all encompassing system for all including those that are diverse. I think the province has done an amazing job at making a curriculum that gives educators the flexibility to teach where their students are at and to engage them in subjects in ways that are interesting for them so they are actually curious to learn.
