What’s my Philosophy?
Children absorb what is around them like sponges especially those things which are present in their everyday lives. This can sometimes be a challenge with outside influences and the pressures that exist. My job as an educator is to make sure that those hours spent in my classroom will be time spent feeling loved, included, safe, and where my students feel free to be themselves. Further from that, my endeavor is to allow students to explore what is being presented to them and support them to try new things without the chance of absolute failure. My students will know that they learn from their mistakes and that mistakes are a necessity of learning. I want my students to question and inquire to enhance their understanding. I want my students to feel free to explore new ideas and embrace change rather than be afraid of it. With my guidance, I want my students to dig deep and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills by tackling problems that may initially seem impossible to solve. I want my students to be comfortable with me so that they can relax, share, be comfortable, and be the best little absorbent learners that they can be. I aspire for my students to want to be at school and to come to school. I will strive to offer the best learning experience for all my students in whatever capacity that is for each one of them. I truly believe that all students have the potential to become what they dream to be and can achieve it with the proper guidance and support. As a parent, I’ve witnessed children achieving their goals and the positive effects that come from that so my goal is, and will always be, to help them along that path to success.
I do this by offering support and guidance to my students by giving constructive feedback, offering a hands-on approach when possible, and using real-world examples to explain why what they are learning is important. I check in on every student throughout the day to make sure that they feel comfortable and see if there are any questions that they may have. My students will be greeted at the door each morning. An assessment that I like to give my students is journaling in which they will express what they learned, what questions that they may still have, and allow them to draw pictures, diagrams, & graphs to help them remember their learning. I make sure that any assessments that are utilized for my students are marked, commented on, and returned within a reasonable amount of time so that they can use them as a learning tool as they go along their education journey.

Throughout my journey in obtaining my CEA and now as a teacher, my philosophy has certainly changed and I know that it will continuously evolve. As I encounter different children with different abilities, I know that I will face challenges and how I react to those challenges will alter my philosophy. What I do know is that we all look to have someone in our lives that understands us and that is no exception for children.
